Design
The Alcatel Idol 4 has a sleek and sophisticated design that is sure to turn heads. The phone is made of metal and glass, and it has a unibody design that makes it feel both premium and durable. The phone is available in two colors: Gold and Silver.
Display
The Alcatel Idol 4 has a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080, which is on the lower end for flagships but still plenty sharp. It’s an AMOLED panel, which means that colors are bright and saturated, and black levels are very deep. One neat trick the Idol 4 has is that you can answer phone calls by holding the phone face up; the display will show the caller ID and you can just tap to answer.

Battery life
The Idol 4S from Alcatel is a great phone with a lot to offer, including a long-lasting battery. If you are looking for a phone that will last all day on a single charge, the Idol 4S is definitely worth considering. Here are some of the specs for the Idol 4S that relate to battery life:
-The Idol 4S has a 3,000 mAh battery.
-The phone supports fast charging and can go from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes.
-In our battery life tests, the Idol 4S lasted 9 hours and 15 minutes on a single charge.
Overall, the Idol 4S has great battery life and is a great option if you are looking for a phone that will last all day on a single charge.
Camera
The Alcatel Idol 4 has a 13-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus and an f/2.0 aperture. It can record 1080p video at 30fps. There’s also a front-facing 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video chat.
Audio
The Idol 4S has two built-in speakers that deliver pretty good audio. The sound is clear and relatively loud, but it lacks bass. For better sound quality, you can connect headphones or a external speaker to the 3.5mm audio jack.
Call quality
T-Mobile’s LTE network is now nationwide, and with it comes a new breed of super-fast phones. The T-Mobile Alcatel Idol 5S is one such speedster, but our testing found that it doesn’t provide the best call quality.
On our voice call quality test, the Idol 5S had an overall score of Good, which is on par with most other phones we test. But on our noisy call test, in which we rate how well a phone suppresses background noise coming from things like cars and busy streets, the Idol 5S scored Marginal. That’s not good; in fact, it means that your calls will probably sound worse in noisy environments than they would on other phones.
The Idol 5S did do a better job than most phones on our tests of how well it transmitted your voice to the person you’re speaking to. But on our tests of how well it suppressed background noise coming into the phone, it was about average.
The upshot is that if you’re looking for a phone that will make your calls sound great no matter where you are, the T-Mobile Alcatel Idol 5S isn’t the best choice.
Pros and cons
The Alcatel Idol 5 is a mid-range smartphone that has some pretty solid specs, including a Full HD display, octa-core processor and 32GB of expandable storage. It also has dual rear cameras and runs Android 7.0 Nougat. But is it worth your money? Let’s find out in our full Alcatel Idol 5 review.
Display and design
The Alcatel Idol 5 has a metal unibody design with 2.5D curved glass on the front. It’s a well-built phone that feels good in the hand, but it is a fingerprint magnet. The phone is available in three colours – Gold, Black and Silver – but we only had the Gold unit for review.
On the front, you’ll find the 5.2-inch Full HD display, earpiece, selfie camera and sensors. There are no navigation buttons as the phone makes use of on-screen buttons. The right side of the phone houses the power button and SIM card tray while the left side has the volume control buttons. At the bottom, you’ll find the USB Type C port and speaker grille while the 3.5mm headphone jack is up top next to the secondary noise cancellation microphone.
Turning to the back of the device, you’ll see the dual rear cameras along with an LED flash arranged vertically in the top left corner. In terms of camera bumps, it’s not very noticeable as it protrudes just a tiny bit from the body of the phone. The fingerprint sensor is placed centrally just below it which makes it easy to reach when using the phone with one hand
Conclusion
We really liked the Alcatel Idol 4S. It’s a great mid-range phone with a lot to offer, including a great camera, powerful processor, and a beautiful design. However, there are a few areas where it falls short, such as battery life and storage capacity. Overall, the Idol 4S is a great phone that should appeal to a wide range of users.
