Setting up Skype
Before you can start using Skype, you need to create a Skype account. You can do this either by signing up with your Microsoft account or by using your email address.
If you want to use Skype without signing up for a Microsoft account, tap the Use Skype without an account link on the sign in screen, then enter your name, choose a username, and enter a password.
Keep in mind that you won’t be able to sign in to your Skype account on more than one device at a time if you don’t have a Microsoft account.
Making calls on Skype
To make a voice or video call on Skype:
- Open Skype and select the contact you want to call.
- Select the Voice call or Video call button.
If this is the first time you’re making a call, Skype will ask for permission to access your microphone and camera.

Making calls on Skype for Android
With Skype for Android, you can make free worldwide calls, chat with friends, and even screen share – all from the comfort of your smartphone.
To make a call on Skype for Android:
- Open the Skype app and sign in.
- Tap the contact you want to call, then tap the video call or voice call icon.
- If it’s your first time making a call on Skype for Android, you’ll be asked to grant Skype permission to access your microphone and camera. Tap Allow when prompted.
- Follow the prompts to complete your call.
Screen Sharing on Skype for Android
You can share your screen during a Skype call on your Android device, so the person you’re chatting with can see what’s going on your screen. This is great for showing someone a website, presentation, or just sharing what’s on your screen. To start sharing your screen, just tap the “Share Screen” button in the Skype for Android app.

To share your screen, just tap the “Share Screen” button in the upper-right corner of the app. You can stop sharing your screen at any time by tapping the “Stop Sharing” button.
How to share your screen on Skype for Android

They’ll see your content live while you record it or present it in real-time. -Open the Skype app and start or join a conversation. -Tap the + sign at the bottom of the screen and select Share screens. -Choose whether to Start now or Schedule for later, then tap Continue. -Follow the prompts to start sharing your screen.
