How to move the taskbar
Windows 10
The taskbar is one of the most important parts of Windows 10. It’s used to launch apps, switch between open apps, and show notifications from your system and apps.
If you’re not happy with where the taskbar is on your screen, you can move it to another location. Here’s how:
- Right-click on an empty spot on the taskbar.
- Click on Taskbar settings.
- Scroll down to the “Taskbar location on screen” section and select one of the four options: Bottom, left, right, or top.
- Click on the Apply button.
Windows 8
Windows 8, like all versions of Windows since XP, offers the ability to move the taskbar. This article will show you how to move the taskbar in Windows 8.
To move the taskbar, first click on the Start button. Then, right-click on an empty space on the taskbar itself. finally, click on “Properties.”
In the Taskbar properties window, you will see a checkbox labeled “Lock the taskbar.” Make sure this box is unchecked. Then, you can simply click and drag the taskbar to any location on your screen. When you’re finished, just close the window.
Windows 7
To move the taskbar from the bottom of your screen to the side or top, follow these steps:
- Right-click an empty area on the taskbar.
- Click Taskbar Settings on the pop-up menu.
- Click on a new location for the taskbar in the “Taskbar location on screen” drop-down menu.
- Close the settings window when you’re finished.
How to change the taskbar position
Users can move the taskbar to three different positions on their screen. The three positions are the bottom, right, and left side of the screen. Users can either change the taskbar position in the ” taskbar properties ” window or by dragging and dropping the taskbar to the desired location.
Windows 10

Windows 7
The taskbar is located at the bottom of your screen by default, but you can move it to any side. To do so, open the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Taskbar and Start Menu.
In the Taskbar properties dialog box, click the Taskbar tab if it is not already selected.
Under Taskbar location on screen, select a new location for the taskbar. If you want to move the taskbar to the top of your screen, select Top. If you want to move it to the left side of your screen, select Left. If you want to move it to the right side of your screen, select Right. Moving the taskbar is helpful if you use a widescreen monitor or have vision problems.
Click OK when you’re done.
