What is Halo Reach Flighting?
Halo: Reach Flighting happens when 343 tests new content or changes to Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One. Players who have been opted-in to Flighting receive updates with new content to try out before it is released to the general population. Flighting allows 343 to gather feedback and data from pilots (testers) to make sure that any changes or new content is ready for primetime before we release them broadly.
How to participate in Halo Reach Flighting?
343 industries has now introduced the Halo Insider Program, which allows the Halo community to beta test upcoming Halo games. To participate in Halo Insider Programs and Halo flighting, you must first sign up for the Halo Insider Program. Once you have been selected for the Halo Insider Program, you will be able to choose which Halo game you would like to participate in flighting for.
Sign up for a Halo Insider account
In order to participate in Halo Insider flighting, you’ll need to sign up for a Halo Insider account. You can do so by visiting the Halo Insider website and clicking the “Sign Up” button.
Once you have a Halo Insider account, you’ll need to link it to your Microsoft account. You can do this by going to the Halo Insider website and signing in with your Microsoft account.
Once your accounts are linked, you’ll be able to participate in flighting for Halo Insider programs.
Opt-in to Halo Reach Flighting
Flighting is when Halo developers release unfinished versions of upcoming Halo games to the public to get feedback and test things out before release. To participate in Halo Reach flighting, you first need to opt-in to the Halo Insider program. You can do this by going to the Halo Insider website and signing up with your Xbox Live account. Once you’re signed up, you’ll need to choose which platform you want to participate on (Xbox One or PC) and then you’ll need to choose which flights you want to opt-in for. For example, if you want to help test multiplayer features, you would opt-in for the multiplayer flight.
Once you’ve opted-in for a flight, you’ll be able to download and play the game on your chosen platform. If you encounter any bugs or issues while playing, be sure to report them on the Halo Insider forums so the developers can take a look and fix them.

What to expect during Halo Reach Flighting?

Receive a Flighting build
The team will be flighting builds regularly as we work on Halo: The Master Chief Collection. A “flight” is a beta test – meaning people will get their hands on the game and try it out before it’s available to everyone.
We don’t have any information on when the first flight will take place, but stay tuned to Halo Waypoint for updates. We’ll also be sure to let you know here on the Halo Community when flights are happening.
Flights will be delivered through Xbox Preview, so if you’re selected to participate, you’ll get an Xbox Preview invite. Once you’ve got that, you can download the build and start playing.
